Catrin Saran James, Archivist and Artist.
“Swansea has always inspired me to be creative – for my professional work as an archivist and my artistic work as an artist.
Both my titles overlap one another. The most interesting archives I’ve found in Swansea are 3 volumes of photographs taken by the council of the post war rebuilding of the city in the 50’s. They show the structures of Swansea’s new areas of Kingsway and Oxford Street. Another amazing discovery was when I catalogued the council films made from 1930 to 1970 – I found cine films of the opening of Swansea Market, pure gold dust for me.”
